A few fun facts about Mrs. Vetro...

I grew up in Barre, Vermont. As a kid you couldn't get my nose out of a book! My favorite was the The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis. I also love music! Growing up, I played the clarinet, the drums, the trombone, and now I enjoy playing the piano. I was also very involved with the drama club.

I came to Maine to attend college at the University of Maine at Farmington. Go Beavers! I graduated in 2004 with a degree in English and a minor in art/art history. Later, I attended the University of Southern Maine to get my teaching certification and I completed my Master's degree in May of 2012. I have been in the district for several years now. I have been a Title 1 Reading Associate, a fourth grade teacher, and now I am back to being a fifth grade teacher. This will be my seventh year teaching.

In the classroom, I love to share my passion for reading and technology. I also believe strongly in giving my students choices in the classroom and allowing them to be meaningful contributors. This means they have input on lots of things, including classroom expectations and projects.

Outside of the classroom, I like to spend time hanging out with friends and family, reading, listening to music, crocheting and knitting, cheering on Boston sports teams (especially the Bruins!), fishing, playing cards and board games, and learning new things to share with my students. I also love traveling! To the left is a picture of me standing in the Pacific Ocean for the first time with the Santa Monica Pier in the background! My dream is to visit Italy, so right now I am learning to speak Italian.
